In a press release, the ski area notes the storm on Oct. 23 and 24 produced 20 inches of natural snowfall.
"As always, Wolf Creek Ski Area is placing an emphasis on skiing with caution and in control, as it is very early season. The storm left a 12-inch settled midway that has a high water content, which is supportive for skiers and snowboarders eagerly awaiting the Halloween Opening Day. Wolf Creek will have a mixture of groomed runs, as well as off-piste terrain with quality lines on both. Skiers and snowboarders should expect highly variable conditions with rocks, unmarked obstacles, and possible open water that needs to be skied or boarded around, and can be encountered on any trail. A list of machine-groomed trails and off-piste terrain available can be found by visiting WolfCreekSki.com," the press release states.
It notes Treasure Stoke, Bonanza and Nova will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, through Tuesday, Nov. 3, giving access to roughly 30 percent of the mountain. The ski area will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, but will reopen Fridays through Sundays until significant snowfall is received.
