CDOT begins Colo. 151 flood recovery

Posted

Following last week's historical flooding, CDOT and emergency contracting partners, Native Sons, mobilized to CO 151, south of Chimney Rock and immediately began work to repair flood damage and restore this vital route between communities before winter.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:
The full closure at the south end, MP 27, remains in place. There is currently no thru access between the CO 151 and US 160 Junction and Arboles. Traffic barriers and signals have been installed at the north end, MP 30, to allow local residential access only.

INCOMING WEATHER:
Throughout this weekend’s anticipated storm, it is our priority to keep critical access to the residences along CO 151. Equipment and operators are staged at the north end, MP 30, to monitor active runoff and clear debris from the culverts. If weather conditions become unsafe for our crews, or significant water flows reach the road, the road will be temporarily closed at MP 30 until flooding subsides enough to safely enter the work zone.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE:

CO 151 residents are urged to follow the direction of Archuleta County, CO Sheriff's Office ahead of this incoming storm system.
