The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado welcomes Cindi Galabota to the Region 9 Board of Directors as an Archuleta County at-large representative.

Galabota is a long-time resident of Pagosa Springs and is the Colorado State University Extension director and community development specialist.

She previously collaborated with Region 9 in her previous jobs with the Ruby Sisson Library Foundation and First Southwest Bank. Galabota replaces Mary Jo Coulehan, former executive director of the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, who retired at the end of December.

“I am honored to join the Region [9] Board of Directors and look forward to contributing to the success of our regional growth initiatives,” said Galabota. “Economic development is a collaborative effort, and I am excited to connect the resources offered through Colorado State University Extension to the incredible work being completed by Region 9 EDD. I am committed to working alongside the other directors to ensure all of our communities remain vibrant and interconnected.”

Galabota was elected at Region 9’s annual meeting on Jan. 29. The Region 9 Board of Directors is composed of 26 members, 17 representing the government jurisdictions, and nine at-large members.

Region 9 is a nonprofit, 501(c)(6) public private partnership that coordinates economic development efforts and, along with the Southwest Colorado Council of Governments, promotes regional cooperation and coordination among five counties, 10 municipalities, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. Both entities are known collectively as the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado. The board meets quarterly.
