Margaret Ann Hart (Maggie) passed peacefully at home in Pagosa Springs lounging in the sunshine on April 10, 2024.

She was born on Jan. 14, 1928, in Jackson, Mich., the only daughter of five children to Mabel and John Blank.

She is survived by her children: John (Karen), of Houston, Texas, Bobby (Debby), of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Susan (Bob) Fleck, of Allen, Texas; grandchildren Patrick, Tyler, Brian, Casey, Allison Hart and Cory, Meaghan and Cameron Fleck; great-grandchildren Molly and Axel Hart; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Hart Fleck.

Leaving Houston in 1980, she moved to Angel Fire, N.M., where she worked, skied and enjoyed a small mountain town life. From there she moved to Bandon, Ore., opening a yarn shop, playing golf, walking the beach and volunteering at the Wild Life Rescue.

In 1994 she moved to Pagosa Springs to be closer to family. There she spent the remainder of her days as an active member of the Pagosa Springs community, golfing, volunteering to read to preschoolers, making stuffed animals for adults and children at urgent care, sewing masks during COVID and knitting hats for soldiers to be sent overseas. She was a lover of animals, always having an adopted cat from the Humane Society and where she also spent time as a dog walker. Her favorite volunteer time was spent at the Pack Rat thrift store (Humane Society of Pagosa Springs), where she met many of her friends and was even awarded volunteer of the year. She was known for her baking, especially her cheesecake that she made for friends and families on their birthdays.

A celebration of a life will be held at her residence on June 8. There will be an open house from 1 to 4 p.m.

Her family will have a private memorial in Bandon, Ore., at a later date.

In her memory, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs online or mail to : Humane Society of Pagosa Springs, P.O.
