Lynn was a man who brought people together. He was loving, energetic, playful and full of life, with a gift for making people feel seen, valued and cared for. He loved people deeply and never seemed to miss an opportunity to express that love. If Lynn loved you, you knew it.

He was attentive to the needs of others and had a remarkable ability to see the good in people. He was forgiving, encouraging and fiercely loyal to his family and friends. When he learned that someone was sick or going through a difficult time, Lynn might show up with a homemade dessert simply to lift their spirits. He took his role as “big brother” very seriously and always had time to listen, offer encouragement or lend a helping hand.

Lynn was born in Houston, Texas, where he worked as a travel agent. His adventurous spirit and love of travel eventually took him to Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. In Los Angeles, he became involved in several movie productions and television projects, including “The Beverly Hillbillies,” and wrote material for several comedians. His creativity found expression in so many areas of his life. He loved the arts, cooking, old movies, dancing and entertaining others with his wonderfully playful imitations of famous people.

Lynn had a special talent for making a home beautiful. He loved decorating and renovating homes and designing gardens, and he had an eye for transforming ordinary spaces into places filled with warmth and beauty. “Lynn made everything beautiful” was not simply something he did — it was part of who he was.

He also loved entertaining. Whether telling stories and jokes, hosting holiday celebrations, preparing a meal or simply gathering people together, Lynn found joy in creating moments that people would remember. His laughter, humor and enthusiasm brought energy to every gathering.

His compassion extended far beyond those closest to him. Lynn showed his love for others through service and volunteering. He read to children at public libraries, helped at the Humane Society thrift store, and served others at Loaves and Fishes. He cared deeply about people and was never shy about speaking out when he saw injustice or cruelty.

Lynn loved his grandmothers and his sweet Aunt G, and he cherished his family and friends. His faith and love for others were woven into his daily life. When Lynn said his prayers each night, he included everyone. There was always room in his heart for one more person to love, encourage or remember.

For the last 12 years of his life, Lynn was blessed to call Pagosa Springs home, a place he dearly loved in retirement. There, as throughout his life, he continued to create beauty, build friendships, serve others and make people feel welcome.

Lynn is survived by his beloved partner of 43 years, Mike; his mother, Rebecca Hernandez; his brothers, Mark and Donnie; his sisters, Becky and Rhonda; and a huge number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Lynn leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves behind the love he gave so freely, the people he brought together, the lives he touched, the beauty he created and the countless acts of kindness that made the world a little better.

He taught those around him to love generously, forgive freely, find the good in people and never be shy about saying, “I love you.”

Lynn will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
