Dear Editor:
Voters of Archuleta County and parts of Mineral and Hinsdale counties will soon receive ballots which include Proposition 7B. The proposition asks voters to permanently exempt Pagosa Springs Medical Center (Upper San Juan Health Service District) from the limitations imposed by the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR). The exemption does not affect voter property taxes at all. It will insure that the Medical Center will be free of limitations on its ability to receive government grants for things like ambulances, medical equipment and facility improvements.
Our local hospital and EMS service have depended on government grants for millions of dollars in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Please vote YES on Proposition 7B.
Thank you,
Mark B. Floyd
