US 160 west of Pagosa Springs (MP 134 to 137.5) was opened at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Saturday (10/24/26). CDOT urges motorists to drive with extreme caution as travel is limited to one-lane alternating traffic.
The highway, from Deer Trail Road to Elk Canyon/Hersch Avenue, was previously closed at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Thursday (10/23) due to flooding and road damage. CDOT maintenance and engineering have been on site clearing water and debris and stabilizing the shoulder and roadway that had been washed away. Water levels have been very high across the road and in the roadside ditches making stabilization work difficult. Work will need to continue in the area for several weeks.
Weather conditions throughout the weekend could cause more flooding that may prompt additional safety closures. Be prepared.
