Final weekend for ‘Beetlejuice Jr.’ at Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts

The strange and unusual are taking one last bow at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts (PSCA) as the Thingamajig Teen Program’s “Beetlejuice Jr.” enters its final weekend of performances.

Audiences have three more chances to catch this delightfully spooky and laugh-out-loud musical on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 31 at 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m.

Directed by Laura Moore, “Beetlejuice Jr.” brings Tim Burton’s beloved 1988 film and the hit Broadway musical to vibrant life on the PSCA stage.

The story follows Lydia Deetz, a darkly curious teen whose fascination with the afterlife takes a turn when she meets a mischievous ghost named Beetlejuice. Together, they hatch a plan to scare away the living and reclaim the home she’s lost — only to discover that family, friendship and acceptance may be the most powerful magic of all.

Under the mentorship of local theater professionals including Trevor Brown, Samantha Luck, Ellie O’Hara and Sophia Raymond; and with original props by Tanya Quinn; lighting design by Madelyn Krause; and scenic design by Jill Fives, the production showcases the immense creativity and dedication of Pagosa’s young performers.

Audiences have praised “Beetlejuice Jr.” for its humor, energy and surprising polish. The teen cast — led by Finlay Moore as the delightfully unhinged Beetlejuice and Olive Fladwood as the soulful Lydia Deetz — has earned standing ovations and glowing community response throughout the run.

With its final performances approaching, “Beetlejuice Jr.” marks a spirited close to another successful season for the Thingamajig Teen Program, proving once again that the next generation of artists in Pagosa Springs is already making its mark.
