The 18th annual Mountain Chile Cha Cha will happen on Saturday, Sept. 28, rain or shine, at the athletic field at Town Park.
This year, we are introducing a $10 entry fee for the event, a first-time initiative. Children aged 12 and under can attend for free.
At the Cha Cha, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy tasting green chile, a Mexican beer garden, a margarita contest and tasting, green chiles roasted on-site, an all-day kids’ corner and various delicious food vendors.
This nominal charge is a small investment for an enhanced event experience featuring two of our favorite bands.
There will be a double header of music by Sangre Joven and Str8 Shot, who have wowed audiences in previous years.
Prepare for an electrifying music experience that will make this year’s Mountain Chile Cha Cha one to remember.
Sangre Joven, a popular and multi-award-winning band, originated in the northern New Mexico pueblo de Las Vegas. The band began its musical journey in 1988 when Lorenzo Miguel Gallegos and brother Daniel Lee Gallegos founded the group. Several other members have contributed to the success throughout the last three decades. Their music style is performed in el estillo del norte de nuevo, Mexico. It consists of rancheras, cumbias, corridos, polkas, and valses, which have been traditional to their heritage for centuries. The band consists of Manny Lucero (drums), Jerrold Roybal (bass/vocals), Ray Lucero (saxophone/vocals), and the original member Daniel Lee Gallegos (lead guitar/vocals). Their goal is to keep New Mexico music (rancheras) alive and make people happy with their God-given talent.
Str8 Shot is a New Mexico music/variety band based in Bernalillo. The band was established in 2013 and quickly gained popularity due to its unique style and ability to bring life to any venue, from some of the all-time favorite cover songs to forgotten music that has been given the Str8 Shot sound. The band propelled to new heights in 2015 by releasing its first CD, “El Primero.” The release has been very successful and continues to improve the group’s notoriety as one of the biggest up-and-coming bands in the New Mexico music scene. The band performed in many shows and some of the most prominent New Mexico music venues in the state and southwest.
