PCC Southwest to offer wildland fire academy

Pueblo Community College (PCC) Southwest will offer a one-week wildland fire academy in October. The academy will be held Oct. 7-11 at the PCC Southwest Mancos campus, 33057 U.S.160. It is open to anyone 18 or older. There is a limit of 20 students. The deadline to register is Oct. 4.

Plane crash-landing reported near Colo. 151

A plane crash-landed around noon in the area of Colo. 151 and Forest Service Road 613 on Tuesday, Sept. 17. According to a press release from the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), the Archuleta County Combined Dispatch Center received a 911 call at approximately 12:03 p.m. reporting that a light aircraft had crashed.

School board discusses policy concerning state name-changing law

The Archuleta School District (ASD) Board of Education (BOE) is required to create a policy in regard to Colorado House Bill 24-1039 on nonlegal name changes. The bill was approved by Gov. Jared Polis on April 29.
