Nicole Pitcher elected LPEA board president

At its June meeting, the La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) board appointed new leadership roles for the 2025-2026 term.  Nicole Pitcher, of Pagosa Springs, was elected president of the board of directors, leading a 12-member group representing the cooperative’s members.

At its meeting on Tuesday, June 24, the board of the Upper San Juan Health Service District, which oversees Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC), appointed Matt Mees to fill the board vacancy.

Investigation into arson at county offices ongoing

On Monday, June 16, shortly after announcing that its wastewater system is experiencing critical situation, the Town of Pagosa Springs held the first of a series of listening sessions about the challenges of funding necessary repairs to its aging wastewater system, which is operated by the Pagosa Springs Sanitation General Improvement District (PSSGID).
