Commissioners discuss timing of potential lodging tax increase

The Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) discussed next steps for a potential lodging tax increase to be put on the ballot at its Aug. 5 work session. County Manager Jack Harper explained the reason for having the matter on the work session agenda was to get direction from the commissioners, noting there is “certainly interest” in moving forward with the ballot question and “it’s more of, actually, a question of timing.”

May sales tax collections up 3 percent over 2024

According to data released from Archuleta County Finance Director Chad Eaton on July 8, overall sales tax collections for May 2025 increased 3.07 percent compared to figures from 2024. That equates to $43,987.42 more received in May 2025 than in May 2024.

Region 9 outlines enterprise zone changes for 2026, timber biomass report completed

The Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation (PSCDC) heard from Laura Lewis Marchino, the executive director of the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado, during its July 9 meeting, with Lewis Marchino informing the board that Archuleta County will be getting an additional census tract in 2026 that will not be in the enterprise zone.
