San Juan River at Pagosa Springs projected to hit 'minor flooding' stage Saturday afternoon

According to Pagosa Weather's Shawn Prochazka, the San Juan River in Pagosa Springs may hit minor flooding stage Saturday afternoon.

Prochazka reported the San Juan River in Pagosa Springs was at 6.3 feet at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and had jumped to 8.45 feet with 2,540 cubic feet per second (cfs) at 10 a.m.  By 11 a.m., it was at a gage height of 9.03 feet and 3,110 cfs. 

"At this rate we'll hit 'minor flooding' stage by 2pm Saturday," Prochazka wrote in an email to The SUN.

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews are busy responding to weather-related incidents along several highways in southwest and south-central Colorado, according to the agency, including flooding, rockslides and mudslides.

Travelers are urged to drive with extreme caution.
