“The mission of the Colorado State Patrol is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all persons by utilizing the strengths of our members to provide professional law enforcement services that reflect our Core Values of Honor, Duty and Respect.”
Over his 28-year career with the CSP, it’s obvious Cpl. Randy Talbot took to heart those core values of honor, duty and respect as he served his community — Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County.
“This community has always meant a lot to me,” Talbot said.
On Sept. 30, Talbot retired from the CSP, bringing to a close a career in which he spent nearly three decades serving, protecting and saving the lives of those in Archuleta County.
In fact, Talbot may be the first trooper to serve his entire career in the community.
“For the most part, Pagosa Springs is a very nice place to be a law enforcement officer,” Talbot said, reflecting on his time with the CSP and adding that he has no immediate intentions to leave.
Instead, he plans to take a year to relax, spend time with his family and work to affect change to the community in other ways, such as supporting the push to build a covered riding arena to promote the area’s western heritage (Talbot has long been a supporter of keeping the area’s western heritage alive, working with and running rodeos for at least 14 years).
