Thirty-five Pagosa Springs musicians have been rehearsing for the past several weeks, preparing to present “Pagosa Country” — a celebration of country music.
The dance concert is a fundraiser for Pagosa Peak Open School (PPOS), the community’s tuition-free public charter school authorized by Archuleta School District in 2017.
The concert, with the theme “Dress Up and Get Down,” will be performed this Saturday, April 19, at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, and will feature some of Pagosa Springs’ most popular bands, musicians and vocalists covering a range of tunes made famous by country music stars such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Garth Brooks, LeAnn Rimes, Jimmie Rodgers, Morgan Stapleton, Keith Urban, and Brooks and Dunn. You will also find yourself dancing to a few original country songs written by our Pagosa musicians.
Performers include established Pagosa bands — 13th Hour, Alibi Five, Last2Know, On The Edge, Ron and Susan, SoulFire, and Totally Happy Campers — along with some of Pagosa’s most entertaining vocalists, including Chris Haas, Lisa Saunders, Gus Palma, Emily Tholberg and Matt Degelman. All the musicians are donating their time and talents to this event.
Tickets — $40 adult, $75 couple — are available through PagosaTickets.com.
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the dance concert will benefit PPOS to help the school carry out its mission: “Developing brave and experienced lifelong learners who contribute to our evolving world.”
