Kick up your heels for a cause at Rotary’s 10th annual barn dance

On Saturday, Oct. 18, the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse at 230 Port Ave. will be transformed into a lively western dance hall for the 10th annual Jewels and Jeans Barn Dance.

From 7 to 10 p.m., guests will enjoy the sounds of Vanishing Breed, featuring Colorado Country Music Hall of Famer and longtime area favorite Odis Sikes. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The evening is packed with more than just great music. Guests can bid in a silent auction filled with unique experiences and treasures — from four rounds of golf with a cart at a South Fork golf club to a half-day guided fly-fishing adventure (valued at $450), a Yeti cooler brimming with accessories, ski rentals for two, an overnight getaway with fine dining in Ouray, and even a horse-drawn wagon ride paired with a two-night stay at a charming local bed and breakfast. Add in gift cards to popular restaurants, and there’s truly something for everyone.

Hungry dancers will be treated to hearty fare from one of Pagosa’s favorite food trucks, serving up house-smoked brisket and chicken thighs with classic fixings, green chile mac and cheese, coleslaw, and dinner rolls — all for $20 per plate (sold separately from the dance ticket).

To keep the fun going, contests for best dressed and best dancer will invite everyone to join in the spirit of the night.

And, the cash bar will debut a special signature cocktail: The Barnstormer. This bold yet refreshing blend of Canadian whiskey, peppermint schnapps, dark and white crème de cacao, and a splash of lemon juice is shaken over ice — the perfect sip to toast an evening of music, dancing and celebration.

The event’s proceeds directly support the club and Rotary’s scholarship program, which helps local graduates pursue higher education or vocational training. Over the past 40 years, the club has awarded more than $564,000 in scholarships to deserving students.

“When you attend the barn dance, you’re not just buying a ticket—you’re opening a door for a student who might not otherwise have the chance to pursue their dreams,” said scholarship foundation chair Shellie Peterson.

Funds also support other vital Rotary initiatives, including the Feed Our Children backpack program, the Dictionary Project for third-graders, youth exchange, teacher and community grants, and youth leadership development.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Secure your spot now at PagosaSpringsRotary.org, Exit Realty, Wednesday Bouquet or the Chamber of Commerce. Don’t wait; buy your tickets today.

“We’ve seen firsthand how scholarships can change lives,” said Rotarian Livia Lynch “This dance is our way of ensuring more young people in Pagosa Springs get that opportunity.”
