2019/10/obit-smiley-IMG_0894-300x286.jpgDavid Smiley, 75, passed on Oct. 13, after a longtime with Alzheimer’s disease. His spirit is now set free. He shared his time in Tennessee and Pagosa Springs. He impacted everyone he met with his kindness and his camera. He played football and majored in chemistry at MTSU, worked at Oakridge National Laboratory and other laboratories around the country. His camera took him on travels from Alaska to Mexico. He also taught school and worked for the Forest Service. Always finding the beauty in nature specializing in wildflowers, ice and moving water.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Margaret Cruze Smiley. He is survived by children Angela Asel, Jessica Hedrick, Forest Smiley and step-children Paul Waltruåp and Trish Sanchez, grandchildren Justin and Emily Hedrick, Alex and Avery Asel, and Roland Sanchez and wife Ginny Smiley.
The beauty of his spirit will live on through his photography.
