Who will serve as Archuleta County’s next county court judge after James E. Denvir retires in January is now in the hands of Gov. John Hickenlooper.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the Sixth Judicial District Nominating Commission met in Durango and chose three finalists from the field of seven candidates previously announced.
Those three finalists are Samuel H. Cassidy, Gayle O. Dixon and Deborah R. Schulte, all of Pagosa Springs.
Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from Wednesday, Aug. 13, within which to appoint one of the nominees as county court judge for Archuleta County.
Denvir’s retirement will be effective Jan. 13, 2015.
