Archuleta County should again have a planning manager on staff sometime this month following the hiring of Margaret Ambrosino.
The previous planning manager, James Shoopman, was hired in mid January and began his post Feb. 10.
Shoopman resigned Feb. 11, leaving Archuleta County to again search to fill the position.
Ambrosino was declared a finalist during the search that ended with Shoopman’s hire, and took the position earlier this month.
While no start date has been set for Ambrosino, Bentley Henderson, county administrator, anticipated that she would start sometime the week of March 10.
“I am excited to finally have our administrative staff back up to full strength,” Henderson said in an e-mail to The SUN.
According to her resume, Ambrosino was most recently an urban and regional planner for the New Mexico State Land Office in Santa Fe from November 2012 to July 2013.
Prior to that, Ambrosino served as associate planner for the City of Farmington from April 2008 to November 2012, with another planning job before that stint.
Ambrosino holds a Master of Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati. She earned a BA in Communications from Purdue University.
