The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is leading the state’s efforts to improve and develop resources to support all Coloradans as we age, which includes developing the first-ever Multi-Sector Plan on Aging.
“For the first time in our state’s history, more Coloradans are older than 60 than are younger than 18. This plan will aim to make Colorado a place where everyone can age with dignity, safety and purpose,” said CDHS Executive Director Michelle Barnes. “Aging is one of the only collective experiences we will all share, so we’ve created a plan to ensure all Coloradans are represented and supported in meaningful ways.”
The 10-year blueprint lays out five high-level goals:
• Support age-friendly, connected communities.
• Develop a health care system that supports older adults.
• Sustain and tailor long-term services and supports.
• Bolster Colorado’s economy.
• Prioritize economic security for older Coloradans.
An initial draft of the plan, which lays the groundwork for the future, is now available for review at https://bit.ly/3EkVyt4.
Coloradans statewide can give feedback about the plan using CDHS’s online form at http://bit.ly/44GYfzA. The form will close May 30 and the plan will officially launch in July.
