The Chamber will host its Annual Gala and Community Awards on Friday, Feb. 7, starting at 6 p.m. at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse.
This event recognizes the work done throughout the year by businesses, organizations and individuals.
This year’s event will be a great networking event with many new businesses already having purchased tickets in the hopes of meeting others in our business community.
Therefore, seasoned businesses are encouraged to attend this gala of an evening to meet new business owners and celebrate some successes.
As we roll into several important years with a major highway construction project planned for our community, it is never more important for our businesses to band together to forge through this next phase of our community.
In addition, although only one person or business can win in each community award category, it is important to thank all of the nominees for their contributions to Pagosa Springs.
For the low price of $35 for a delicious gourmet dinner and live entertainment with Maxwell Miller, you can also show your support for one of the many nominees.
The nominees are as follows:
• Small Business of the Year: PS Froyo, Echo IT and Sage.
• Non-Profit of the Year: Build Pagosa, Aspen House and Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs.
Volunteer of the Year: Mary Tighe, and Bill and Nancy Crouse.
Citizen of the Year: Larry Ash, Kathleen McFadden and Dee McPeek.
You’ll need to come to the event to see who will win in each category; however, each and every nominee is really a winner for all they have contributed to this community. The event is open to the public and tickets will be available at the door.
Don’t miss this elegant and fun evening.
U.S. 160 construction update
Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter on Groundhog Day, and we are certainly crossing our fingers that the Pagosa Springs area will see some moisture soon before we officially get into spring.
Because the weather is holding, the construction company chosen for the U.S. 160 reconstruction project is already working on some preplanning activities.
One of the best ways for our business community to find out about the latest information is to attend the next Cone Zone meeting. This meeting will be held on Feb. 27 starting at 6 p.m. at Motel SOCO.
At this meeting, representatives from CDOT will update the public on the potential start date and rollout schedule of the project.
The group will also be updated on parking and transportation options, and marketing and communication efforts. This is also the opportunity for the community to hear your input and suggestions.
As we get down to the wire on the start of the project, businesses also need to find the time to work together and plan for any options in business hours, special offerings to the public or other important logistics that will run in sync with the rollout of the project.
The meetings are open to the public and all interested are encouraged to attend.
