Bivens, McKain receive state emergency management awards

Archuleta County Director of Emergency Management Thad McKain (left) received the 2015 Emergency Manager of the Year for the southwest all-hazards region at the Colorado Emergency Management Association conference on March 7.

Two area residents received awards for their contributions to the community during the Colorado Emergency Management Association (CEMA) conference on March 7.

Les Bivens, chairman for Upper San Juan Search and Rescue (USJSAR), received the Mike Gelski Award for Outstanding Volunteer Achievement for the year of 2015.

Thad McKain, director of emergency management, received the 2015 Emergency Manager of the Year for the southwest all-hazards region.
