Charter school discusses food authority program, board vacancies

The Pagosa Peak Open School (PPOS) Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Thursday, April 17, in which the board met with representatives from the Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI) to review a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two entities that outlines CSI’s role as the school’s food authority.
The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor will begin slope repair work on U.S. 84 on May 6. The work, taking place 21 miles south of Pagosa Springs, is expected to last until the end of December.

At its April 16 meeting, the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) approved a letter to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) supporting a grant application by the Pagosa Area Recreation Coalition to support the creation of a regional outdoor recreation management plan.

Rebecca Anne Scott Johnson, at the age of 95, (Sept. 20, 1928 - April 25, 2024), passed from her earthly home at Brookdale Assisted Living in Brighton, Colo., to her eternal heavenly home after suffering from congestive heart failure.

Lady Pirates notch two wins, tie one

Pagosa player Lauren Monterroso works to move the ball forward with Elizabeth Currier during a game against the Del Norte Tigers at home on April 30. Monterroso led the team by scoring four goals in the game, with Currier following with three.

The Pagosa Springs High School Lady Pirate soccer team won two games and tied one over the week, defeating Ignacio at home on 11-1 on April 26, tying Montezuma-Cortez 0-0 in Cortez on April 27 and beating Del Norte at home 10-0 on April 30.
