Town to hold road reconstruction session on May 6

Posted

The Town of Pagosa Springs will be holding a second community listening session regarding the upcoming Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) road construction on U.S. 160 through the downtown business district on Monday, May 6, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center, 451 Hot Springs Blvd.

CDOT recently announced it delayed the much-anticipated reconstruction project for now and will rebid the project in the fall of 2024, with construction activities anticipated to begin in the spring of 2025.

We decided to keep up the momentum and build upon the ideas and energy of our last meeting on April 4 so that we all are better prepared for when the project takes place.

The May 6 listening session is intended to begin local business and property owner Road Reconstruction Committee discussions.

Small committee groups will gather thoughts and suggestions to be transmitted by designated business representatives to regional CDOT leaders for inclusion in future bidding and negotiating processes.

The goal is to provide suggestions that will minimize downtown business disruptions during the busy summer visitor season beginning in 2025.
