The San Juan Water Conservancy District Board met Monday to discuss the Dry Gulch Reservoir project and other matters.
Rod Proffitt, president of the board, shared a letter he received from the U.S. Forest Service. The letter stated that the board’s proposal for a special use permit for Dry Gulch Reservoir had passed the first level of screening criteria in the permitting process. However, the Forest Service will need more information, including proof that dam and reservoir construction can occur on private lands and a formalized business plan, to determine whether the proposal passes the second level of screening and can be accepted as an official application.
