Voting Republican

Dear Editor:

Quit taxing my overtime!

Rep. Katie Stewart says she wants to make life more affordable. Then why did she vote to keep taxing my overtime?

The federal government gave eligible workers a tax deduction for part of their overtime pay. Colorado lawmakers could have let workers get that relief on their state taxes, too. Instead, Stewart voted “Yes” on HB25-1296, which keeps Colorado’s tax on my overtime pay.

I work extra hours because my family needs the money. The state should let me keep more of what I earn, especially when that means spending less time at home.

Stewart talks about helping working families, but her vote says otherwise. These Democrats have gone too far in Colorado. I’m voting for balanced leadership. I’’m voting Republican! It’s time for a real change, and it’s time to quit taxing my overtime.
