Special to The SUN
The Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County meet weekly at the Quality Resort on the west end of town every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
We strive to keep veterans informed on what their benefits are, changes to benefits and assist veterans in obtaining the benefits they have earned/deserve.
With this in mind, at our upcoming Jan. 14 meeting, we will have a veterans outreach specialist from the Denver Regional Office Department of Veterans Affairs speaking to and assisting veterans with their benefits issues. She will have with her experts on benefits, claims and loans to help local veterans and answer any benefit questions they might have. She and her staff will have access to work on and resolve issues.
Anyone in need of, or having trouble with VA benefits, claims, loans, etc., should come to one of our meetings prior to Jan. 14, or call Veterans for Veterans at (970) 799-VETS (8387) to reserve time with the specialist before or after the meeting to help resolve your issues. This is a great opportunity for anyone needing or wanting to know more about VA benefits, so mark the date on your calendars.
Just a reminder: This coming year, we are adding an event that we hope becomes our signature annual event — the Veterans for Veterans golf tournament, which is scheduled to take place on May 17. Look for more information about this event in the future.
Veterans for Veterans would like to wish everyone in the community a Merry Christmas and a safe and fun holiday season.
Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization developed to meet the needs of local veterans, including financial assistance, help during a move, transportation to a medical appointment, help in filing VA claims or dealing with the VA, providing firewood or water, help paying rent and utilities, finding housing/assistance for homeless veterans, computer/technical assistance, help during emotional distress, visiting shut-in veterans and those in the nursing home, plus much more.
With winter upon us, demand for help will increase significantly, thus putting a strain on our available funds. If you would like to make a donation, you can mail it to Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County, P.O. Box 5331, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.
It is only through the generosity of our compassionate donors that the Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County can offer its support to Archuleta County veterans and their families in times of great stress.
