On Sunday, Sept. 1, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will address the topic titled “God, Who?,” presented by John Cooper, a ministerial aspirant with the UUA and a divinity student at Iliff School of Theology in Denver.
This sermon will ask why we let others define the word “God” for us and how could we, as Unitarian Universalists, define it so that it serves us.
Additionally, John will explore what is it about the word “God” that makes so many members of our faith cringe? Is God a person, or a process? Cooper will talk about our relationship to God, the word, the concept, the presence, and conceptualizing God as a process unfolding, rather than as a personage — more of a Tao than an identity. There is ample biblical evidence for such a concept of God, especially the famous Exodus 3 “I AM” passage.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall. The address is Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
