The stone arch bridge located behind the Pagosa Springs History Museum on 1st Street became a topic of serious concern for the Pagosa Springs town council recently.
“This property is located at 96 1st Street and is the old waterworks facility for Pagosa Springs,” Town Planner James Dickhoff introduced the issue at council’s special meeting on March 27. “The property contains three structures — there’s the old arch bridge, which most people don’t realize is there because it is covered in foliage; there’s the reservoir tanks and there’s the old water facility building, which is attached to the tank structures.”
Dickhoff explained that the town, in order to be eligible for a grant from the Colorado State Historical Fund (SHF), hired The Collaborative Inc., (TCI) out of Boulder for $10,500 to conduct an assessment of the property.
