U.S. Congressman Scott Tipton stopped by the Pagosa Springs Town Hall last week to present a plaque to former mayor Ross Aragon in recognition of his lifetime of service to the community.
While Tipton explained he was in town on official business related to Pagosa’s blossoming renewable energy industry — in particular to talk to J. R. Ford about his biomass plant and to talk to Jerry Smith about his geothermal project — he was also here for a personal reason.
“I wanted to be able to take an opportunity to recognize somebody that I have admired for a long time,” Tipton said. “Pagosa has always been blessed with great leadership. That has given a vision to this community, to be able to grow, prosper and hang onto those elements that are inherent to those of us who grew up in this area.”
