Support for Weiser, Romero

Dear Editor:

DJT has mastered one powerful lesson - elections are emotional.

Any strong emotion would serve. Love of country, love of neighbor, strong respect for justice and due process would be admirable, but our whiner-in-chief gloms onto fear and hate. Fear of “the other” is predictable, or alternatively, hatred of “anyone who disagrees.”

I’ve been a registered Independent since the late 1960s. I’ve never witnessed the level of political bullying that we’ve seen since January 2025. What else could explain near unanimous GOP support for a bill that strips medical coverage from hundreds of thousands of citizens and SNAP benefits from additional thousands of our most vulnerable neighbors? All to reduce taxes for billionaires? Seriously? They can’t carry their own weight?

These same enablers tolerate Trump’s war of choice and the ruinous tariffs that are bleeding us dry. Well, the piper has come for payment, and average Americans are paying through the nose.

Every time a politician makes a false promise, ducks a question, rubber stamps a disastrous policy, ignores pleas for accountability, we rightfully feel abandoned. Bullied by Trump, the GOP has caved in and orphaned their constituents on every issue.

Candidates like Weiser and Romero haven’t been bought and paid for. They can’t be primaried. They won’t be bullied.

Let’s not allow ourselves to be manipulated by bullies or by billionaires.

Vote to be represented, not abandoned.

Sincerely,

Kathy Muth
