Support for 5A

Posted

Dear Editor:

I’m old, I’m retired living off savings, I have no children in this school district and I fully support ballot measure 5A to fund our schools. This vote has nothing to do with curriculum, politics or ideology. It is simply a yes or no if you want our children to be taught and fed in decent facilities. With this opportunity to make a positive change I can’t imagine continuing to send a 7 year old little girl to a school built in the 1920s or a 12 year old boy to his band class where sheet music and instruments have been damaged due to a leaking roof in a facility built in the 1950s. We’ve gotten our moneys worth out of these buildings. When I was little, people long gone that I never met voted to fund decent facilities for me to go to school. I see it as an honor and a duty to now pay it back and pay it forward for these kids that will shape the future of our country.
