On Monday, March 31, at 11 a.m. and noon, Alzheimer’s Association Regional Director Elaine Stumpo will again be at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church to offer her monthly classes with those who are caring for family members or friends with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia and for those who want to learn more about how to be supportive.
The class at 11 a.m. will address particular issues that those currently caring for patients must face and how to best deal with them.
The class at noon will be for those who have friends with various forms of dementia and want to know how to be more supportive to them and to their caregivers.
“The first meeting we had with Elaine last month brought in a larger group than we expected,” says Fr. Doug Neel, rector of St. Patrick’s. “There is obviously a great need for this sort of professional teaching and guidance.
These meetings are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about how to serve those who are in the midst of this very difficult health crisis. Some who attend have friends or relatives who are currently in various stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Others just want to know how to be more helpful to those who are dealing with it. Some are caregivers and need support. We welcome anyone who would like to learn more.”
