St. Patrick’s offering Parents Night Out

Special to The PREVIEW

Tonight (Dec. 13), from 4:30–8:30 p.m., St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church will offer parents the opportunity to enjoy an evening out, providing them with a very special gift of inexpensive childcare for their kids.

For only $5 per family, children will enjoy a hot dinner, crafts, games, music and other fun activities (no videos or parking kids in front of a TV screen), while parents enjoy the freedom to take in holiday festivities, wrap presents, or just enjoy a holiday breather.

“We hope that this will give parents a breather during this holiday season, a time to enjoy adult time away from the kids, knowing their children are safe and having fun,” says Fr. Doug Neel, rector of St. Patrick’s. “I can well remember how stressful things can be at this time of the year, when dealing with excited, sugar-stimulated children. I also remember how prohibitively expensive childcare can be. So, whether this time is spent shopping, wrapping presents, or just sitting at home with popcorn and a movie, moms and dads need time to restore their energy. This is St. Patrick’s gift to parents and kids.”

The Parents Night Out event for kids is being supervised by responsible adults, members of St. Patrick’s, whose director has completed the required Episcopal diocesan course entitled “Safeguarding God’s Children.”

There will be room for only 20 children (one adult for every four children), and parents will need to fill out a registration form before leaving their child.

St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church is located at 225 S. Pagosa Blvd.
