Special to The PREVIEW
Are you wondering, “What raffle are the kids talking about?”
Seeds of Learning is having a Ka$h for Kid$ raffle and the winner will receive one-third of all the money collected. With only 300 tickets being sold at $100, the winner could win up to $10,000. Your one-in-300 odds are very good. To win $10,000, all 300 tickets must be purchased. If you already have your ticket, please remind your friends to purchase theirs, too. Don’t have $100 for a ticket? Go together with one or two friends and split the winnings.
Tickets are available at Seeds and outside of City Market May 2 and May 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. The drawing will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at Seeds of Learning, 575 South 7th St. You do not have to be present to win — we’ll notify you.
As you are imagining what you will use your winnings for, you might be wondering what Seeds of Learning will be doing with the remaining two-thirds of the money raised.
Your donation will be put to work to educate the 65 percent of our at-risk children that pay on a sliding scale to learn every day. Money raised in the past few months has been used to purchase four new computers that Seeds’ teachers use to track and document every child’s progress daily. It has been used to purchase iPads that allow teachers to take photos in the classroom to add to each child’s documentation and help create individualized learning plans for each week.
Donations have been used for three new fish tanks, books and seeds for a garden that allow the children to explore science and the world they live in. Age appropriate toys and games that teach math skills and healthy interaction are always needed. Your help means the children will get a nourishing, hot breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snack every day to fuel their growing minds and bodies.
There will only be one winner of the cash pot, but if you buy a ticket you are still a winner. To Seeds you are a big winner of the “I care about the future of Pagosa children” contest. Your help makes it possible to educate at-risk children and create successful adults. How could you be a bigger winner than that?
