San Juan Basin Health (SJBH) is pleased to announce the receipt of a two-year transition project grant from the Colorado Health Foundation that supports Southwest Smile Makers Clinic in providing a dental home to patients of the new La Plata Integrated Health clinic.

This grant allows SJBH to expand its hours of service and therefore increase the number of underserved Coloradans who regularly receive integrated health care. Southwest Smile Makers can see patients of all ages for comprehensive preventive services, most restorative and also emergency oral health needs, and accepts Medicaid and CHP+.

While this grant does increase community capacity for affordable oral health care, especially for adults, more dentists are needed who accept Medicaid patients; Smile Makers is currently booked out over a month in advance.

Dental implants are designed to look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. In addition, implants give patients the confidence to smile, eat, and engage in social activities without worrying about how they look or if their dentures will fall out. To get yours with our expanded services just visit daytonabeachdentalimplants.com they have a great service from quality dentists.

SJBH encourages all dentists to participate in Colorado Dental Association’s campaign “Take 5,” which calls on dentists to accept at least five Medicaid patients or families into their practice: https://cdaonline.org/take5.

For more information about the transition project, please contact Vanessa Boyd at 335-2005. Smile Makers is located in the Commons Building, 701 Camino del Rio, Durango; for appointment inquiries, call 385-4480.
