Retro Metro Kids celebrates one-year anniversary with second National Walk to School Day

National Walk To School Day is Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Retro Metro Kids kids will gather at Yamaguchi Park to celebrate the occasion with refreshments and a walk to school.

The Archuleta School District’s Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program, called Retro Metro Kids, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with its observance of National Walk To School Day, and there is a lot to celebrate.

Over the summer, the Town of Pagosa Springs repaved Piedra Street and built a new sidewalk on the north side that connects 8th Street to 10th Street, bringing children safely to a crosswalk that leads to the elementary school fields. This is a significant step toward making Pagosa Springs a great place for children to walk and ride their bikes safely to school.
