Yes, it’s finally finished!
Let’s all celebrate the completion of work on Lewis Street and have a block party on May 11.
A drive on Lewis Street is euphoric compared to what is was the last several years. The giant machines, gravel road and dust are things of the past. Finally, we have a beautiful street to drive and walk on.
A lot of work went in to the job and the majority of it was done by people who live here. Local jobs were especially important while we were facing the economic downturn. A big thank you goes to Strohecker Asphalt, the Concrete Connection and all the local utility companies. Thanks goes out to the Mountain High Gardeners and the Catholic and Methodist churches for beautifying the curbs.
The original intent was to make Lewis Street a festival location, so let’s have a giant yard sale with food, vendors and dancing in the street.
National Historic Preservation Month is the month of May and John and Lynnis Steinert are giving tours of the old jail building, located in the 300 block of Lewis Street, across from the junior high school gym.
Have your yard sale and meet your neighbors on May 11.
