At its meeting on May 3 this week, Pagosa Springs Town Council declined to authorize immediate purchase of a new bridge to replace the structurally deficient Hot Springs pedestrian bridge downtown.
Deficiencies with the 20-year-old bridge were initially discovered in summer 2015, when cracks in the metal structure were noticed by town personnel during replacement of the wooden-plank walking surface.
