PAWSD board overflows with dysfunction

Just when we thought things at the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) couldn’t get more dysfunctional — they did.

Last spring, SUN staff filed a Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request for emails between PAWSD board members. The results proved that the board was in violation of the Colorado Open Meetings Law by holding meetings of a quorum of the board via email without properly noticing them.

One would think that The SUN bringing the board member’s indiscretions into the light of day would have resulted in the board following the law more closely.

That wasn’t the case.

Following accusations made at last week’s board meeting, once again, SUN staff executed a CORA request for emails of the board.

At press time, PAWSD was still compiling records from two board members for review.
