Business Spotlight: Compassionate dental care meets personal experience at Black Diamond Dental

Dentists should have perfect teeth, they are trained in dental school how to take care of teeth.

Dentists highly value and care for teeth, that’s their job after all. Dentists are always lecturing us what we are doing wrong with taking care of our own teeth. Dentists should know what to do not to have any dental problems.

If so, I’m a dentist, and I wear a partial to replace missing teeth. What the heck?

I had really good teeth until I woke up one day with my face swollen, extreme pain in my mandible and part of my face numb.

It was scary to have problems with my teeth. It’s easy to lose track of your teeth when there are so many other things to worry about in life.

I ended up with a rare cancer in my mandible. I had surgery to remove a section of my mandible and three teeth that the cancer had compromised. I ended up losing my three right back lower teeth.

With the reconstruction, implants or a bridge were not an option for me, so now I wear a partial. This is very humbling as I used to have perfect teeth.

At Black Diamond Dental of Pagosa Springs, we understand that life happens, and we can’t be perfect in every aspect of life. We don’t judge you or the condition of your mouth. We will work with you where you are and on a timeline that works for you.
