Majestic Drive in Pagosa Springs — which connects at one end to Piedra Road beyond Solomon Drive, at the other end to U.S. 160 near Trinity Lane and for the most part meanders through the hills near the airport — will be paved this year, if all goes as planned.
According to Scott Frost, the town’s special projects manager, Majestic Drive qualified in 2009 for special funding through the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality Act (CMAQ). CMAQ funding provides for dust control on unpaved roads by either applying magnesium chloride or, in some cases, by actually paving the road.
