We are living in the end time harvest. Many people are coming to Jesus. Professional athletics claim Him as their savior. Elon Musk confesses his faith to the world. Matthew McConaughey reads scripture on television, and Mark Wahlberg leads an audience in prayer.
Keanu Reeves testifies to “The View” of his encounter with God. Jockey Junior Alvarado, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, also declares his faith to the crowds, “I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
I heard the words in my spirit, “God has taken the muzzle off Christians. They are speaking out.”
We have not seen this current openness so electrifying before. Even with the faith of a mustard seed, new converts lead others into the kingdom. In the midst of this great joy and the end time harvest, we are warned not to be deceived; there will be great persecution.
We have seen the depth of darkness in humanity. Christians throughout the world are being persecuted and killed for their faith. This earth is shaking to its core, a tinderbox ready to explode.
We are warned about wars and rumors of wars, nations rising up against nations, kingdoms against kingdoms, famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in many places. We have experienced pestilence (COVID), and an estimated 20,000 earthquakes annually. (See Matthew 24:4-14, NKJV).
These times are a paradox. Lawlessness and evil are emboldened, speculation and confusion are in the minds of many. Jesus is peace, righteousness and justice. He is coming to war against evil.
Closer to home, in our sweet town of Pagosa Springs, many feel immune to these horrible things that shout from the global headlines. We live peaceably with our neighbors and all is well. The question is, how will we handle persecution if it comes to our town?
Author Lynn Moffett has written and released a seven-book series about a cozy little town like ours — Singing Springs.
When asked how this idea came to her, Moffett said the series of contemporary novels was “birthed as a result of a dream I had three years before the story fully formed. I live in a small town in the Colorado mountains. In the dream, I saw soldiers in white camo moving stealthily through pine trees down a snow-covered hill. I knew they were up to no good. Their orders were to round up people and force them to give up their deeply held beliefs. The hidden purpose behind the invasion was to still the voices of the ultimate ‘haters’ in our country — Christians.”
Final brushstroke: I type this article and wonder how I would stand against persecution. Even though these books are fictional, I believe Moffett’s books are a warning of what will happen. Are we spiritually prepared to stand? Don’t be deceived.
