The Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) is a community-centered nonprofit serving Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County — “Growing Food and Community with Local Energy!”
Some people call the GGP “those domes by the river,” but the GGP is much more.
The GGP is a now a Colorado Gives partner and you can join us in giving where you live. Since the educational nonprofit has been unable to host our usual exciting community events, like the Environmental Film Festival or Breakfast with Balloons, our operating funds have dwindled. The safety of our community remains our priority. With the support of our community, the volunteer- and donation-driven organization remains strong and committed to giving where we live. You can give where you live at: www.pagosagreen.org.
Since 2020, the GGP has supplied hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to our community food pantries, Food Coalition and Farmers Market. The GGP’s volunteers manage three greenhouses on our educational site on the San Juan Riverwalk downtown.
Truly a partnership, the GGP hosted children for learning experiences outdoors last summer in cooperation with the Ruby Sisson Library and Pagosa Springs K.I.D.S. Camp. The Weminuche Audubon’s Terry Hershey Memorial Garden, on the GGP site, draws visitors to learn about the importance and beauty of Colorado native plants. Water-saving plants were added to the Rotary Club’s xeric garden. Dancers and musicians performed in the GGP’s amphitheater. Neighbors donated hundreds of daffodils and irises.
The GGP has board vacancies. We encourage motivated volunteers with nonprofit management, environmental education or vegetable-growing experience to contact ggp@pagosagreen.org. Visit the GGP at www.ColoradoGives.org/geothermalgreenhousepartnership or www.facebook.com/geothermalgreenhousepartnership.
We’ll be conducting greenhouse tours at upcoming special events and look forward to fully opening to the public again soon. See you on the Riverwalk.
