January sales tax revenues drop 1.1 percent from previous year

Sales tax revenues for Archuleta County in January 2023 dropped compared to January 2022, according to a report released by the Archuleta County Finance Department.

The report notes that the town and the county jointly received $1,271,247.67 in sales tax revenue for the month of January, with $641,216.32 going to the town and $630,031.35 going to the county. 

January sales tax revenues are 1.1 percent, or $14,410, lower than January 2022. 

According to the report, the categories that are up in comparison to January 2022 include: 

• Information at 1 percent, or $229.

• Finance and Insurance at 24 percent, or $240.

• Professional, Scientific and Technical Services at 39 percent, or $2,949.

• Accommodation and Food Services at 9 percent, or $20,221.

• Other Services (except public administration) at 18 percent, or $3,164.

• Miscellaneous at 10 percent, or $19,249.

Categories that were down for January in the month-to-month comparison include: 

• Construction at 37 percent, or $13,411.

• Manufacturing at 26 percent, or $13,695.

• Retail Trade at 4 percent, or $29,154.

• Real Estate and Rental and Leasing at 14 percent or $4,202.
