Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado, in conjunction with Pagosa Mountain Morning Rotary Club, is holding a car wash on Saturday, July 6, at Citizens Bank Uptown by City Market from noon till 3 p.m.
All proceeds raised will go to helping Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as a young man in the program who is going on a school trip to Europe next year.
This young man and his big brother were “adopted” by the Pagosa Mountain Morning Rotary Club in our Adopt-A-Match Program. The Rotarians have been observing his progress in the program since he was matched in April. Within the first week of this match, this “Little’s” life changed. He fought less with his little brother, he was more respectful at home and was no longer involved in bullying at school. Matching him with a big brother made all the difference in his approach to life. Mentoring really does work.
This young man’s goal is to raise $5,000 for a school trip to Europe in 2014. He approached Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Morning Rotary Club for help with this endeavor. Along with a car wash, we will hold a bake sale with many delicious goodies to take home with you.
In a very short time, this boy’s life was changed just because he had a positive male role model stand up to be his big brother. They do fun things like fishing, golfing, tubing and going out to eat — things you probably do anyway, but if you were to share these activities with a child, it could change his or her life for the better, forever. Please consider mentoring a child and reaping the many rewards involved.
Visit our car wash on Saturday, July 6, at Citizens Bank by City Market from noon to 3 p.m. You will leave with a clean car and wonderful baked goodies for you and your family, as well as help children improve their future.
