Special to The PREVIEW
Pagosa Springs Elementary School is hosting the fifth annual Empty Bowls Event this Saturday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Students, craftspeople, artisans and community members have been creating bowls during our Empty Bowl season. We started making bowls on World Food Day on Oct. 16.
Over 300 ceramic bowls have been made. A minimum of $10 donation is asked to get the bowl along with a humble meal of soup, bread and a drink. All proceeds go to our local food banks.
These are the wonderful people and businesses that are donating soup for our great cause. We will have a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian soups.
Two Chicks and A Hippie (Betsy), Boss Hogg’s (Mandy), Old Town Market (Celeste), Cowboy Catering (Tari), Pagosa Brewing Co. (Marsha), Alley House and Farrago (Mark), Bear Creek (Mark), Margaret Gallegos, Anita Gurule and Pagosa Springs Elementary Lil’ Chefs.
Pagosa Springs Elementary staff will be providing finger desserts, as well.
The Empty Bowls coordinator is Tessie Garcia, along with her committee Karen Siclai (silent auction coordinator), Lucille Stretton (soup coordinator), Chris Hicklin, Colleen Koneman, Brian Abel, Marty Borges, Robin Bayles, Shawna Carosello and Cindy Halverson. Principal Kate Lister oversees the project.
Come to our Empty Bowls Event, share a table with other people and listen to music and a performance by children under the direction of music teacher Lisa Hartley.
