For several years, local food banks have benefited from the Empty Bowls fund-raiser, and this year is no different.
A nationwide effort to support local food banks, Empty Bowls offers handmade bowls and homemade soups to the community and, in return, proceeds go toward local food banks.
This year, fourth graders at Pagosa Springs Elementary School creating 125 bowls and about 30 community members and a committee of nine from area schools worked to create a plethora of bowls for the event.
In addition to the food and take-home, usable art, elementary school students will provide entertainment during the meal.
This year, Empty Bowls will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Pagosa Springs Elementary School.
