Dear Editor:
In America, we have no kings. The people choose their leaders. Leaders do not get to choose who votes, whose voices count, or what future our communities deserve. Across this country, families are struggling with the cost of groceries, gas, electric bills, and everyday expenses. The choices made by those in power affect our lives, and elections determine who has the power to make those choices.
Please join No Kings/Equality Pagosa for an Early Vote rally on Saturday October 17 10am-Noon at Town Park. This is a non-partisan event that will focus on early voting, which begins on October 19 in Colorado.
Early voting information will be available and a speaker will address the importance of early voting.
At noon the group will march to Town Hall to celebrate those who have come to the event with completed ballots ready to drop off. The group will then walk to the Bell Tower for the Saturday Stand-Up from Noon-2pm(New location and time).
Voting early gives us the power to make our voices heard on our own terms, before Election Day, before the last-minute chaos, and before anyone else can decide what happens next.
Local communities know what is at stake. From the cost of living to voting rights and the future of our democracy, people are organizing around the issues that affect their families and their communities every day.
Please join us on October 17th.
