During its regular meeting held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) unanimously approved Resolution 2026-09, amending fees for county services and information.
County Manager Longinos Gonzalez presented the matter, explaining the BoCC discussed various changes being made to the fee schedule during a Jan. 13 BoCC work session.
Commissioner Veronica Medina motioned to adopt the resolution, excluding the planning and solid waste fees, with those fees tabled until further notice.
The proposed fee schedule can be viewed in its entirety online under the BoCC’s Jan. 20 meeting agenda documents at www.archuletacounty.gov/archuleta-county-co-official-website/agendas-and-minutes.
During the Jan. 13 work session, Public Works Director Mike Torres explained that he does not want to implement any new or increased fees at the landfill until the landfill project is completed.
Gonzalez commented that the county needs to make sure it has an accurate fee schedule “that meets the needs of the community,” but also meets the needs of the county.
Torres indicated that scale-use fees would be eliminated as the county will no longer be providing a scale for public use.
Changes included in the building department fees include a $200 reduction of the permit reinstatement fee, removal of the temporary certificate of occupancy and the removal of inspections outside of normal business hours.
Multiple changes were made to the public health fees, with 11 new public services being added.
Those services include focused and complex STI screening, sports physicals, Department of Transportation physicals and blood work consults.
The department will also now offer blood draw services for $20.
Multiple women’s health services were also added, with 11 new services being added.
In the Road and Bridge Department, the permit to work in the right of way was raised from $125 to 1.25 percent of the required bond, with a $150 minimum.
After-the-fact permit fees were raised from $240 to $250, and the sale of county road specification copies went up from $7.50 to $10.
Magnesium-chloride for residents to purchase increased from 85 cents per gallon to $1.30 per gallon.
No changes were made to the sheriff’s office fees.
The fee for dumping carcasses at the landfill was also removed, as Torres informed the BoCC that the county can no longer accept carcasses.
The only fee changed under transportation was increasing the one-way fee ride from Pagosa Springs to Arboles from $2 to $12.
